About Dennis M. Robinson


Dennis M. Robinson has enjoyed a 30-year career in philanthropy and nonprofit/community development,

 specializing in philanthropic strategies for government and community organizations, universities and hospitals.

 

 In 2024, Dennis M. Robinson joined Amplifi Napa Valley as Director of Development and in  previous roles

 Dennis served as a Senior Philanthropy Advisor at Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Western Regional

 Director for MedShare International, West Coast Advancement Officer at the  Southern Poverty Law Center,

 Chief Advancement Officer at Arizona State University, Director of Development at St. Francis Medical  Center Foundation

 and Associate Vice-President of  Advancement at Earlham College. 
 
Dennis has worked independently raising nearly $750,000 in response to the largest natural disasters in the Caribbean,    coordinating relief and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico since 2017, providing air support delivering 112 tons of supplies and  developing an emergency shelter in Loiza after Hurricane Maria. After the 2010 Haiti earthquake, he led 3 missions that      brought medical care to 6,350 patients and coordinated a joint, 40 personnel mission with a team from California and Canada    to serve 3,500 patients in 7 days. 
 
He was invited to ceremonies in Beijing, China where he accepted a peace award for his work in Haiti and an appointment to

 the  executive board of the Beautiful Life Development Plan Foundation and earlier in that year was appointed to the Board of  Advisors of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, USA (a chapter of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, London, England).

Dennis was appointed in 2018 by California Governor Jerry Bown to the California Sate Library Civil Liberties Grant Advisory  Panel  and serves on the board of Coradorables', Inc. in Oahu, Hawaii.  He has served on the Legislative Regulatory Committee  of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition in Washington,  D.C.; the 3rd Congressional District Advisory Committee

 of  Ohio Congressman Tony Hall; the founding Advisory Board of the Dayton Community Reinvestment Institute and the Board  of the  Greater Phoenix Urban League.  He was the founding Chair of the  Board of Project LACE (Loving Abandoned Children  Everywhere) in Los Angeles, and served on boards of The Story Project  (Los Angeles) and the Citizens’ Diplomacy Council of  San Diego.

Dennis began his community development journey with an 8-year career in municipal government with the City of Dayton  Priority Board and 5 years in community development consulting as founder and CEO of 3Ci Consulting. As a trained mediator,  he worked as an observer to police  hostage negotiation teams. Robinson achieved a 100% success rate in writing federal grants  for non-profits, community  organizations and government agencies and served as a visiting professor in Al Gore’s Family-  Centered Community Building course at Fisk University.
 
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Robinson holds a graduate certification in Design, Partnering, Management and Innovation from the  Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA;  a B. A. in Speech and Communications from Fisk University and  completed additional studies in Entertainment Business and Studio Production at Vanderbilt University.
 
Dennis is a former late night jazz radio announcer, a collector of jazz and world music and an avid fan of Formula One, IndyCar  and LeMans/Sportscar Series Racing.  He raised his daughter as a single father.  

 

 Robinson resides in the Monterey Bay, California area.
